The Procurement Service-Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) was recognized during the 7th Charter Day celebration of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) on August 6, 2026 at Seda Vertis North, Quezon City, for empowering small-scale manufacturers, cooperatives, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as key partners in government procurement.

PS-DBM was honored by CDA for its invaluable role in advancing the shared goals of strengthening the cooperative movement and promoting inclusive and sustainable development. The Plaque of Recognition was received by Executive Director (ED) Genmaries Entredicho-Caong and Deputy ED for ICT and Procurement Rommel Rivera.

The recognition underscored PS-DBM's ongoing push to open more doors for MSMEs in government procurement, in line with the New Government Procurement Act's (NGPA) provisions on inclusive procurement, and its role in driving local and national economic growth.

In February 2026, PS-DBM depots in Cagayan de Oro and Butuan Cities welcomed the brooms or walis tambo, handcrafted by Indigenous Peoples (IPs) from Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental, in its roster of common-use supplies and equipment (CSE). Aimed at expanding this initiative to reach the whole country, a meeting with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in July 2026 was held to push for the strategic rollout of the ????? ????? ’??!–?????? ?????-?? ???????—which will allow a larger scale of MSMEs to participate in public procurement activities relating to CSE acquisition.

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed in August 2025 by PS-DBM, DTI, and CDA established the framework for this multi-agency cooperation to support local manufacturers engaged in producing and supplying affordable, high-quality cleaning and janitorial supplies through PS-DBM's e-commerce platforms.

Aligned with the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive to empower local communities, and through the leadership of Secretary Kim Robert de Leon, PS-DBM remains committed to creating more opportunities for local cooperatives and MSMEs to participate in public procurement.
