The Procurement Service - Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) participated in the 1 st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) conducted today, March 9, 2023 — heeding the call of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) to promote disaster preparedness and resilience among communities including workplaces.

With the guidance of the PS-DBM Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Security Team, all officials, personnel, as well as the transacting client-agencies at the PS-DBM Main Office in Paco, Manila took part in the activity by doing the basic “duck, cover, and hold” practice, before proceeding to the designated evacuation areas upon the ceremonial bell ring.

After the drill, employees huddled together for a quick discussion on the proper safety protocols that must be observed during an earthquake, as detailed by head of PS-DBM ERT Prevention and Preparedness Team Jose Rafael Magno. He also encouraged his colleagues to pass the lessons on to their family and loved ones.

Expressing gratitude towards participants, Director for PS-DBM Administrative and Finance Group Samantha Grace Moscoso hopes that the employees continue to be advocates of earthquake awareness by keeping in mind the learnings from today's activity.

NSED is set to be conducted quarterly throughout the year to instill a good sense of preparedness in the general public in the event of a strong ground shaking.
