In view of the request of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Directorate for Logistics, PBGEN Mario A. Reyes, officials and personnel of PNP, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) visited the Main Office of the Procurement Service - Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) for a tour of the agency’s warehouses on July 12, 2023. This forms part of PNP’s Logistics Management Course (LMC) that aims to build up the workforce’s competencies, skills, and values in logistics management for an enhanced quality of their organization’s logistics services.

The tour, led by the PS-DBM Warehousing and Delivery Division, was also an opportunity for PS-DBM and the LMC Class to share best practices in the areas of logistics and operations as they observed the activities that take place in the warehouses first-hand and in-person.

Prior to the tour was the conduct of PS Client Learning Engagement (PS-CLE) administered by the Customer Service Team of the PS-DBM Marketing and Sales Division (MSD). Similar to how it is regularly facilitated among other stakeholders, the discussion focused on the functionalities and features of the Virtual Store (VS) — a one-stop online platform of the modernized Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (mPhilGEPS) to select, view, search, and procure Common-use Supplies and Equipment (CSE).

In his message, PS-DBM Director for Operations Group Atty. Philip T. Vera Cruz emphasized the agency’s mandate to operate a centralized, government-wide procurement of CSE — which are presently undergoing technical specifications review.

“We procure goods na dapat ma-meet ang expectations and needs ng ating mga government agencies,” he said, expressing PS-DBM’s continuous efforts to institute transformational reforms and policies to improve the public procurement process under the leadership of Executive Director Atty. Dennis S. Santiago.

The awarding of a Certificate of Appreciation, presented by PCOL Marlou Roy Alzate to PS-DBM, concluded the activity in recognition of the agency’s “invaluable support and contribution to the successful conduct of the facility tour.”

Following the program, several members of the class also got the chance to discuss other procurement matters with PS-DBM Director for Procurement Group, Atty. Genmaries Entredicho S. Caong, who currently serves as the agency's OIC Executive Director.
