In commemoration of the International Day for Risk Reduction on 13 October 2021, the Procurement Service - Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) highlights the availability of fire extinguisher (Pure HCFC) offered as a common-use supply and equipment, priced at PhP 5,613.25 per unit.
This is a testament that PS-DBM recognizes the possible, unfortunate occurrence of disasters even at work, whether natural or man-made. Government client-agencies and employees can procure this item as part of their efforts to boost disaster resilience.
This year's celebration banners the theme, "International cooperation for developing countries to reduce their disaster risk and disaster losses." Studies show that disasters have greater impact on low- and middle-income countries, especially in terms of mortality, number of people injured, displaced and homeless, as well as economic losses and damage to critical infrastructure.
For its part, the PS-DBM has recently reconstituted its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Team to designate the agency's emergency marshal, response team leader, and fire fighting group leader. The reconstitution also specified the creation of other sub-teams including evacuation team, medical team, communication team, and security team. The PS-DBM also consistently conducts or participates in nationwide fire and earthquake drill.
This proves the commitment of PS-DBM to promote a global culture of risk-awareness to prevent losses in lives, livelihoods, and health due to environmental, technological, biological hazards, and other related risks.
