The Procurement Service - Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) participated in the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on June 8, 2023, in an effort to promote disaster preparedness and resilience among communities including workplaces.
Spearheaded by the PS-DBM Emergency Response Team (ERT), in collaboration with the Human Resource Development Division (HRRD), General Services Division, and Security Team, the earthquake drill was joined by the agency’s officials, personnel, and client-agencies transacting at the Main Office in Paco, Manila. Participants were reminded to stay calm as they practiced the "duck, cover, and hold" movements leading to the designated evacuation areas.
Following the drill, Training Specialist Audrey Mediano reminded the participants to always be alert, reiterating the guidelines to stay safe during an earthquake. This echoes the protocols set forth by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).
Conducted quarterly, NSED seeks to educate the general public on disaster preparedness and at the same time increase the nation's disaster response competency. The measure also allows the agencies to review their disaster risks and gaps, and to enhance their existing emergency plan and contingency efforts.
