Represented by the Customer Service Head of the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (PhilGEPS), the Procurement Service - Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) participated in the conduct of a procurement training for female business owners from various sectors to empower them in joining government projects and opportunities.
Organized by the Government Procurement Policy Board - Technical Support Office (GPPB-TSO) on August 29, 2024, the activity provided knowledge and skills to help participants navigate the public procurement landscape.
For PS-DBM’s part, Mr. Brian Gerona discussed the key features of the modernized PhilGEPS, and how these women entrepreneurs can access procurement opportunities through the same platform — the single electronic portal for information on the conduct of all procurement activities of the government.
Mr. Gerona also shared the salient points of the New Government Procurement Act. It was also an opportunity to promote other activities of PS-DBM such as the upcoming Fun Run in October, among others.
Aimed at fostering inclusivity as it continues to implement transformative reforms and innovations, PS-DBM recognizes the role of empowered women in diversifying the market and maximizing its full potential.
By helping them understand procurement laws, processes, and procedures, paired with adopting sustainable business practices, women-led enterprises can seize opportunities available through public procurement — beneficial to businesses, the government, and its stakeholders. | September 9, 2024/KR
