In time for the commemoration of its 60th founding anniversary early this June 2025, the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) had another reason to celebrate as it received the buses and a minibus it ordered through the eMarketplace of the Procurement Service – Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM).
The turnover ceremony marked the first-ever release of these motor vehicle units from when the eMarketplace was launched as the Philippine government’s official e-commerce platform for procuring common-use supplies and equipment (CSE) last December 2024.
PLM President and Vice Chairman Atty. Domingo Y. Reyes, Jr. lauded the shortened procurement timeline, with the full transaction, from placing the order to delivery, completed in less than two weeks—as compared to the usual three months or more in their regular procurement.
Valued at 20.7 million in total, the two buses and one mini bus generated savings for PLM, which came with free decals or the decorative sticker that proudly banners the university name on the unit’s outdoor surface. This would usually entail additional cost. The buses’ interior, which offers comfortable space and is equipped with mini televisions, is as note-worthy.
Expressing their approval and satisfaction, the PLM officials are thrilled to utilize the newly purchased vehicles for the benefit of its faculty members, students, and other university staff. They were joined in the ceremony by PS-DBM Executive Director Genmaries “Gen” S. Entredicho-Caong; Operations Office Acting Director Samantha Grace E. Moscoso; and Marketing and Sales Division Chief Omar O. Bernal.
Apart from buses, procuring entities may choose from a wide range of other vehicular types including passenger vans, utility vehicles, SUVs, MPVs, and sedans. With its “add to cart” feature, client-agencies can conveniently search, view, select, and compare items on the eMarketplace—ensuring efficiency and transparency in public procurement as enshrined in the provisions of the New Government Procurement Act (NGPA). | June 19, 2025/LR
