The PS-PhilGEPS officials and staff conducted their team building and annual assessment activities at The Camayan Beach Resort in Subic Bay Free Port, Zambales last March 29 to 31, 2017. Upon arrival at the venue, the crew of the resort welcomed the group and gave an overview of the facilities available as well as the house rules particularly on safety. Mini-games were played and prizes were distributed to lucky winners.

“Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” - This is a quote from Abraham Lincoln that best fits what the PS-PhilGEPS has recently required its procurement units to undergo. In preparation for the huge procurement tasks that it is about to take for 2017, the PS-PhilGEPS conducted its Procurement Professionalization Workshop and Assessment at Piña Colina Resort, Tagaytay City on January 25-27.

The workshop was attended by the members of the Office of the Executive Director, Bids and Awards Committee (BAC), BAC Support Division, Purchasing Division-Procurement Planning and Procurement Support Team. The workshop aims to capacitate and update the participants with the latest updates on practices, laws, rules and regulations on government procurement. Engr. Ian T. Fajarito summarized the objective of the workshop by sharing a very witty and fitting mnemonic, “B-est Practices, A-ccountability and C-amaraderie.”

The Procurement Service-Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System, an attached agency under the Department of Budget and Management, together with Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Cebu Pacific Air conducted its second of four activities involving an orientation and walkthrough on the Government Fares Agreement (GFA) with the theme “The Smarter and More Efficient Way to Fly” last February 24, 2017 at the Philippine International Convention Center, PICC Complex, Pasay City.

The participants, this time, came from government-owned and controlled corporations and government financial institutions. These agencies were feted to discussion on the GFA which makes official air travel more convenient and accessible to the workforce of the government.
