In commemoration of the Philippine Environment Month, the Procurement Service – Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) remains committed in advocating environment-friendly programs and policies for its employees, client-agencies, and other stakeholders.
As the lead government agency that oversees the procurement process, the PS-DBM implements the Green Procurement Program (GPP). By adapting the GPP, the products and services are guaranteed to have undergone environmental considerations. The program also ensures the agency’s continuous procurement and utilization of items with green specifications not only for environment protection but also for economic sustainability.

PS-DBM implements GPP to incorporate “green specifications” into the products and services it offers.
PS-DBM is dedicated to promote eco-friendly initiatives not only to its clientele but also to its employees and personnel at the workplace. The use of reusable utensils and paper instead of plastic cups, management of waste disposals, and conservation of water are being practiced in the daily activities within the office.
It is also worth-noting to mention that in 2015, PS-PhilGEPS became the first national government office in the Philippines that installed solar panel mounted on the rooftop and lamp posts within its premise. This is a testament that PS-DBM trailblazes the advocacy in switching to renewable sources of power.
The solar panels are still being utilized—resulting in a reduced electricity bill of the agency as reported by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Program of the General Services Division (GSD).
