Officials of the Procurement Service – Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) joined the DBM executives in a meeting with representatives from the World Bank (WB) on May 7, 2024 to discuss potential collaborations in expanding the Philippine government’s Integrated Financial Management Information Systems (IFMIS).

For PS-DBM’s part, the role of the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (PhilGEPS) was emphasized, especially relative to the plan to develop a procurement module. In discussing this, other matters were also tackled, including compliance with environmental criteria in green procurement; measures to achieve sustainable procurement; and interoperability in electronic procurement.

With IFMIS, DBM looks at making financial reporting in the country more efficient, transparent, and accountable, which shall cover information on government procurement.

DBM Undersecretaries Maria Francesca Del Rosario, Margaux Salcedo, and Wilford Will Wong were in attendance, along with other key officials. PS-DBM Procurement Group Director Genmaries Entredicho-Caong, Operations Group Director Philip Josef Vera Cruz, and PhilGEPS Group Director Maria Teresita Semana were likewise present, together with Ms. Lady Lou Gimeno of Comptroller Division, Ms. Joanna Maglay of Planning and Budget Division, and Marc Hordejan of IT Research and Planning Division.

WB, led by Senior Public Sector Specialist and Task Team Leader (TTL) Davit Melikyan, was represented by Senior Financial Sector Specialist and TTL Radu Tatucu, Senior Public Sector Specialist Hunt La Cascia, and Melissa Agustines Santiago Yan.
