The Procurement Service – Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) was recognized by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for its initiatives to promote ease of doing business, contributing to the fulfillment of its advocacies anchored on its mandate as the national government agency tasked to oversee the Philippine corporate sector. SEC conferred the award on PS-DBM in its 88th Anniversary and Appreciation Night held on December 10, 2024 in Makati.

Represented by Executive Director (ED) Genmaries “Gen” S. Entredicho-Caong, together with Operations Office Director Samantha Grace E. Moscoso and PhilGEPS Customer Service team lead Brian N. Gerona, PS-DBM graced the event that gathered other awardees representing organizations from the private and public sectors. Present also in the event was Undersecretary Leo Angelo Larcia who likewise received an award for DBM.

In a letter, SEC Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer Emilio B. Aquino said that PS-DBM’s participation is a manifestation of support for its efforts in elevating capital market development, investor education and protection, sustainability and corporate governance, and organizational development.

In a plaque of recognition presented to ED Gen, SEC lauds PS-DBM’s “dedication to fostering transparency, enhancing the Philippine capital markets, and driving sustainable growth [which has] played a key role in empowering the business sector.”

True to the essence of the award, PS-DBM is steadfast in improving its public service delivery by streamlining the public procurement process—the implementation of which is reinforced by the agency’s customer service teams that cater to both client-agencies and merchants. Only recently, PS-DBM officially launched the eMarketplace. The platform is expected to expedite the procurement timeline as the government’s official e-commerce platform.

Apart from its digital transformation agenda, PS-DBM also constantly reviews its policies, procedures, and mechanisms as detailed in the Citizen’s Charter to ensure efficiency in its performance of internal and external services.

PS-DBM is one with SEC in championing the investing public through various strategic initiatives especially in the area of public procurement. | December 17, 2024/LR
