The year 2024 is a time of reforms in the Procurement Service - Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM). Amid this progressive development are other activities beyond procurement procedures that ultimately transformed public procurement nonetheless—such as the ONE PS-DBM Fun Run 2024 that took place at the Academic Oval of the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.
Held on October 6, 2024 which kicked off the agency’s 46th year anniversary celebration, and following the successful run of the same event last year, the One PS-DBM Fun Run 2024 gathered more than 2,500 participants composed of PS-DBM officials and employees, representatives from other government agencies, and the general public who were all in high spirits despite the dreary weather and persistent rain.
“As we pave our way through the race course, mapapagod po tayo… But we remain focused on reaching the finish line. Ganoon din po ang PS-DBM sa paglilingkod,” PS-DBM Executive Director Genmaries S. Entredicho-Caong said in her message.
Apart from the main race—with distances of 2 km, 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km for the men’s and women’s divisions under the government and general public categories—several other activities were conducted throughout the event such as Zumba dance sessions and other fun games. Concluding the program was the awarding of winners followed by the presentation of a same- day edit (SDE) video, highlighting the event’s and participants’ victorious finish.
Sweat and sweet success: all strides led to these moments
While running as an activity is noticeably far from the usual procurement practices that PS-DBM undertakes as the government’s purchasing arm for common-use supplies and equipment (CSE), the event remained relevant as it was an avenue to promote the agency and its mandate to both internal and external stakeholders—all while fostering camaraderie, health and fitness, and holistic well-being among running enthusiasts and professional runners of different backgrounds and ages.
But what must have truly defined the event’s success was the fulfillment of its purpose, with focus on the realization of the agency’s social responsibility programs. Enabled by the proceeds of the One PS-DBM Fun Run 2024, the PS-DBM, through partnerships and collaborations, facilitated donation drives for humanitarian causes.

As the year comes to a close, PS-DBM extends its heartfelt gratitude to all its stakeholders for their unwavering support, not only for this event, but also for other initiatives that contribute to the reforms and transformation of the country’s public procurement landscape. Let us carry this momentum forward as we usher in the new year. Here’s to many more years of Procurement and Service! / December 31, 2024 | GD
