As the year comes to a close, the Procurement Service – Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) gives back to its staff and stakeholders by conducting week-long activities in celebration of its year-end festivities.

Kicking off with Family Day held on December 17, PS-DBM gathered its officials and employees, together with their families, for a Thanksgiving Mass and highly interpersonal games and activity booths—such as the mock retail store where children could roleplay as client-agencies procuring common-use materials and equipment—ultimately improving the work-life balance of the PS-DBM employees. On the same day, an Executive Management Committee Meeting led by PS-DBM Executive Director Genmaries S. Entredicho-Caong was also convened.

True to the essence of the holiday spirit, PS-DBM shared the celebration with its network of regional depot offices across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao on December 18-19 in a strategic planning held in Manila. The operational workshop served as an avenue for the regional depots to come together in person, and review their accomplishments in 2024 and be able to assess which among the existing initiatives and programs are most effective in achieving the 2025 targets. The PS-DBM regional operations group is comprised of depots in Baguio, La Union, Tuguegarao, Pampanga, Legazpi, Cebu, Tacloban, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Koronadal, and Butuan.

Thereafter, on December 20, the PS-DBM welcomed around 50 children, together with their parents and guardians, for the conduct of an outreach program for its neighbors in Barangay 662 in Paco, Manila. The program formed part of PS-DBM’s social responsibility advocacy from the success of the ONE PS-DBM Fun Run 2024 held in October this year. Apart from the fun games, grocery baskets and toys were given to the beneficiaries. The PS-DBM also donated classroom equipment for the barangay’s daycare center.

The PS-DBM year-end festivities culminated at the DBM Central Office as it attended the special gathering themed, “Diwa ng Pasko: Iba't ibang Rehiyon, Iisang Pasko,” also on December 20. More than its attendance, PS-DBM showed off the talents of its officials and employees by actively participating in the program—from the singing of the PS-DBM Chorale, competing in the Hometown Glam Parade, ED Gen’s dance number with the DBM Senior Officials, and to the showcasing of a surprise video presentation for DBM Secretary Amenah "Mina" F. Pangandaman, produced by the PS-DBM’s Video Production Team.

"Tonight's gathering reminds us of our resilience, hard work, and commitment as public servants... Marami po tayong napagtagumpayan ngayong taon na ito... Let us remember that our strength lies not in our individual accomplishments but in our ability to work together," Sec. Mina said in her keynote message.

PS-DBM, through these year-end activities, fosters camaraderie amongst its employees—all while providing an opportunity to reflect on its accomplishments and areas for improvement to set the tone for the upcoming year. | December 27, 2024/GD
