In view of its anticipated procurement of motor vehicles through the eMarketplace, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) invited the Procurement Service - Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) to a knowledge sharing activity on January 28, 2025 at the PDEA National Headquarters in Quezon City.

Attended by PDEA’s Procurement Division, Inspection Committee, Bids and Awards Committee (BAC), and Technical Working Group, as well as representatives of its regional offices, the orientation focused on the process flow to complete a transaction on purchasing motor vehicles in the eMarketplace—the latest feature of the modernized Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (PhilGEPS) in procuring Common-use Supplies and Equipment (CSE).

The platform’s legal bases, advantages, and benefits were likewise discussed. Apart from the discussion, a live simulation was conducted to familiarize the end-users with navigating the system.

Led by Operations Office Acting Director Samantha Grace E. Moscoso, PS-DBM was represented by the Marketing and Sales Division’s Ms. May Ann Chan and Mr. Reygienald Nacario.

Believing in the expertise of PS-DBM, PDEA initiated the activity to “enhance the agency’s ability to procure in a more efficient, streamlined, and cost-effective manner,” as expressed in a letter by PDEA Assistance Secretary Israel Ephraim Dickson, who also sits as the Deputy Director General for Administration and BAC Chairperson.

Launched in the final quarter of 2024, by virtue of Government Procurement Policy Board Resolution No. 06-2024, the eMarketplace currently offers motor vehicles as the pilot products. In consultation with key stakeholders, PS-DBM is expanding its roster of CSE items in the eMarketplace geared towards the digital transformation of the public procurement process. | January 28, 2023/PM
