By request from the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), the Procurement Service - Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) hosted a training session for PCO on delivery, inspection, storage, warehouse management, and inventory-taking which took place on November 28, 2024, at the PS-DBM Main Office in Paco, Manila.
Spearheaded by the Warehousing and Delivery Division and Inspection Division, PS-DBM shared its best practices in supervising the agency’s logistical operations with emphasis on warehouse and inventory management as well as the inspection process. The knowledge from the discussion formed part of PCO’s benchmarking activity that provides the participants with insights on their supply and property-related transactions, consequently improving their internal controls and policies.
Also part of the learning engagement was a forum to exchange challenges and solutions, highlighting the utilization of innovative approaches and technologies.
“As the PS-DBM continues to enhance its operational efficiencies, we recognize the importance of learning from firsthand observation of your warehouse operations which certainly provide invaluable insights about effective supplies management strategies, inventory control, and procurement processes,” PCO Undersecretary for Operations, Administration, Finance, and GOCCs Cherbett Karen L. Maralit said in their request letter.
This was realized in the warehouse tour that followed the discussion, where PCO’s representatives from various offices and units took a closer look at PS-DBM’s warehouse operations—an integral part of the fulfillment of its mandate as the government’s central purchasing arm for Common-use Supplies and Equipment (CSE) requirements.
“This initiative is an essential step towards strengthening the operation efficiency of PCO… Proper management of logistics, from delivery and inspection to effective storage … ensures that we are prepared, efficient, and accountable in every aspect of our work. The successful implementation of these processes contributes directly to the overall effectiveness and transparency of our office,” said PS-DBM Operations Office Director Samantha Grace E. Moscoso.
PS-DBM, under the leadership of Executive Director Genmaries S. Entredicho-Caong, opens its doors to other government agencies not only for procurement of CSE but also for collaborative learning opportunities geared towards enhancing the delivery of public services. | November 28, 2024/KR
