The Procurement Service – Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) reaffirms its commitment to advocating women’s rights and promoting gender equality following its participation in the National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) kick-off event on March 5, 2025, at the Music Hall of SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City.

Anchored on the sub-theme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sector, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas,” the event served as an inclusive space for engagement aimed at lifting women from various sectors, especially those in marginalized communities. Organized by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) in collaboration with SM Cares, the program featured lectures and service booths that equipped women with the knowledge and resources for the improvement of their overall well-being.

The event also highlighted a trade fair from various government agencies, private sectors, and non-government organizations (NGO) showcasing women-owned and women-led micro, small, and medium enterprises—offering free medical check-ups, legal consultations, livelihood support, fire safety training, and other essential services that provided opportunities for economic advancement.

The PS-DBM was represented by the members of its Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) – Director Marlita V. Dagsa of Administrative and Finance Office, who also chairs GFPS; Director Maria Teresita Semana of the PhilGEPS Office; Acting Director Samantha Grace Moscoso of the Operations Office; and Acting Director April Flor Borlagdatan-Vejano of the Procurement Office.

“We celebrate and laud the great strides that the Philippines has made in empowering Filipino women and we continue our commitment to advocate for gender equality not only as a fundamental right but as a critical component in achieving a peaceful, sustainable, and progressive Philippines,” said Dir. Dagsa in a statement.

PS-DBM maintains a workplace that empowers the female members of the workforce. Spearheaded by GFPS, the agency initiates a month-long program to join NWMC 2025. Among these initiatives are the NMWC-themed flag raising ceremony, production of NWMC-themed banners of support, purple and zumba Thursdays, and livelihood-related training sessions and seminars.

PS-DBM—with the strong support of its female leaders Department of Budget and Management Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman and Executive Director Genmaries S. Entredicho-Caong—recognizes the impact of women in nation-building through reforms in the public procurement landscape.
