The Procurement Service – Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM), in partnership with Crayon Software Experts Philippines Inc. (Crayon) and Microsoft (MS) Philippines, aids in boosting the country’s digital transformation by offering MS licenses and subscriptions to government agencies.
When the PS-DBM secured discounted MS products for the government early this year with Crayon as the sole fulfiller, initiatives to accelerate the transition to digitization have consistently progressed. A series of webinars and virtual caravans was conducted for the public sector including state universities and colleges.
While these efforts are mobilized, a more recent undertaking is projected to realize the Philippines’ transformation into a data-driven nation beginning with Manila. In an article, MS details its digital partnership agreement with the City of Manila to enhance how the city government works internally by taking advantage of the power of technology in increasing efficiencies.

The partnership entails automation and computerization of processes, strengthening of digitally-driven data gathering, and introduction of other technological advancements, among others.
For Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso, turning Manila into a “smart city” is a big step towards recovery from the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Manila is where the PS-DBM Main Office is located, as well as the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (PhilGEPS). The PS-DBM expresses its support for breakthroughs such as this. For its part, the agency will continue to drive innovations by offering MS products and services not only in Manila but across the country through its regional offices nationwide.
